While the St. Louis Public Schools state-appointed board looks at its long-range planning, part of what it will consider is which schools to close. Most agree that 80 total schools in the city is too many, and downsizing is the correct course of action.

The expectation is that the funds freed up can be reallocated, and Sam Dunlap hopes some of that money will go toward establishing athletics at the middle school level.
